Wednesday, March 14 SCIENCE BREAKFAST - The Scripps Oceanographic Society invites you to attend a Science Breakfast featuring the underwater imaging research of Jules Jaffe, 7:30-9:00 a.m., at the Birch Aquarium. How do scientists explore marine populations in a non-invasive way? What specialized tools do they use to investigate underwater images? How does research involving imaging and signal processing impact the fields of oceanography, engineering, robotics and medical diagnosis? These fascinating questions and more will be explored during this presentation and discussion. Jules will describe the research being conducted in his lab to develop new imaging techniques to explore the oceans. Hear first hand what a gray whale sounds like using sonar imaging.
